Coming Home: Farmhouse Trading Returns to the Green Hills
There's something quietly profound about returning to where it all began.
After some time of running Farmhouse Trading from Moorabbin, I'm packing up, pointing the van east, and heading back to the green hills of West Gippsland — back to the place that first inspired everything you see in this little shop of mine.
Why We're Going Back
This wasn't a decision made lightly, but it was one that felt, in the end, completely right. West Gippsland is where the idea of Farmhouse Trading was born — surrounded by rolling paddocks, timber verandahs, and the kind of unhurried life that makes you want to fill your home with things that are honest, useful, and beautiful.
The truth is, the city was never really us. The brand you've come to know — the warm brass tones, the rustic hooks, the pieces that feel like they've always belonged — those things were always rooted in a rural sensibility. We're simply going back to live it more fully.
What This Move Means for the Brand
Farmhouse Trading has always stood for something beyond just hardware and homewares. It's about choosing quality over convenience, supporting small and ethical makers, and building a home that tells a story. Moving back to the hills feels like the most authentic expression of those values we've ever made.
We're excited about what this new chapter opens up — the possibility of local markets in the region, local pickup for Gippsland customers, and even new product sourcing from makers and suppliers closer to home. The green hills have a way of inspiring things. Watch this space.
Thank You
To every customer who has ordered a hook, a rack, a shelf — who has sent a kind message or tagged us in a photo of their beautifully styled home — thank you. You've made this business worth building, and worth moving for.
I can't wait to share what comes next for Frmhoue Trading
With warmth and best wishes
Becc
